Walkabout Resources Limited (ASX:WKT) has announced a significant increase in sales orders for graphite concentrate in September, marking a milestone for the company's Lindi Jumbo project.

Instant Summary:

  • Two sales orders totaling 800 tonnes received in September.
  • Over 60% of the volume ordered is coarse flake graphite.
  • Sales prices are consistent with previously announced prices.

Sales Orders and Market Demand

Walkabout Resources Limited has reported a major boost in sales orders for its graphite concentrate during September. The company received two substantial sales orders totaling 800 tonnes, with more than 60% of this volume being coarse flake graphite. The prices for these sales are in line with those previously announced.

Andrew Cunningham, Walkabout's Managing Director and CEO, highlighted the importance of these sales, stating, 'Starting regular large volume sales is an important milestone and begins to cement Lindi Jumbo as a reliable producer of high-quality graphite concentrate in the minds of end customers.'

Production Ramp-Up and Operations

The Lindi Jumbo project has been ramping up production since June, producing over 3,200 tonnes of graphite concentrate. Despite a planned 5-day shutdown for maintenance, the project is averaging around 50 tonnes of dry graphite concentrate per day. Early sales to Europe and Asia consisted of pilot orders for customer testing, and follow-on orders are expected in the coming months.

Wogen, a key customer, has secured two significant sales with clients in India and China. These orders, primarily for coarse flake graphite, will see Lindi Jumbo receiving 80% of the assessed final value of these sales, with the remaining balance paid after the end customers settle with Wogen.

Future Prospects

Walkabout Resources anticipates further sales to these and similar end customers as more product becomes available. The company is witnessing strong demand for both coarse and fine graphite produced by Lindi Jumbo. This robust demand is expected to continue as the project ramps up towards nameplate capacity and possibly beyond.

The company remains fully exposed to market prices for its graphite products and stands to benefit from the forecasted cyclical increase in prices in the coming years.

Impact Analysis

The significant increase in sales orders is a positive development for Walkabout Resources, signaling strong market demand for its graphite products. This could lead to increased revenue and profitability for the company, potentially boosting its stock price. The company's ability to meet market demand as it ramps up production further enhances its growth prospects.

Investor Reaction:

Analysts are likely to view this announcement favorably, as it demonstrates Walkabout Resources' successful market penetration and growing customer base. The consistent pricing and strong demand for coarse flake graphite are positive indicators for the company's future performance.

Conclusion:

Investors should keep an eye on Walkabout Resources as it continues to ramp up production and secure more sales orders. The company's strategic positioning in the graphite market and its ability to meet rising demand could present significant growth opportunities.
